Custom Paper Labels

Coated, Uncoated, Kraft & Textured Paper Labels

Paper labels give a natural, printable surface for dry indoor products and artisan brands. Coated paper prints sharp and saturated with a smooth surface; uncoated and kraft read as natural, matte and writable; textured stocks add a premium, tactile feel. We produce all of them with optional lamination, foil and embossing, so your product looks handmade or high-end without the cost of film.

About Paper Labels

What Paper Labels Are

Paper labels come in several stocks, each with its own look and feel.

Coated Paper

A smooth, coated surface that prints sharp, saturated color with a clean finish.

Uncoated Paper

A natural, matte surface that absorbs ink and can be written on.

Kraft Paper

An unbleached, natural-brown stock for handmade, organic and artisan brands.

Textured Paper

A premium, tactile stock that adds character under the print.

How Coated and Uncoated Paper Differ

The surface coating changes both the print and the feel of the label.

How the Coating Changes the Surface

On coated paper a coating seals the surface so ink sits on top, giving sharp detail and saturated color. On uncoated paper there is no coating, so ink absorbs into the fiber for a natural, matte look you can write on.

Coated
Ink sits on a sealed surface — sharp detail, saturated color and a smoother finish.
Uncoated
Ink absorbs into the fiber — a natural, matte look that takes pen and stamp.
  • Coated seals the surface — a coating stops ink soaking in, so print stays sharp, saturated and slightly glossy.
  • Uncoated absorbs ink — with no coating the fiber takes the ink, giving a matte, natural face you can write on.
  • Choose by look — coated for crisp, colorful print; uncoated or kraft for a natural, handmade feel.

When to Choose Paper or Film Labels

Paper is the choice for a natural look and dry use; film takes over where moisture and durability matter.

Choose Paper

For dry indoor products where a natural look, writability and lower cost matter more than moisture resistance.

  • Dry, indoor products and pantry goods.
  • A natural or handmade look, including kraft.
  • Uncoated and kraft you can write on.

Choose Film (BOPP / Vinyl)

For moisture, refrigeration, curved surfaces and outdoor use, where paper would soften or lift.
